Christmas Day is the single biggest closure day for chain pharmacies in the United States. Most stores close entirely; a small subset of 24-hour CVS and Walgreens locations stay open with limited pharmacy service.

Thanksgiving is the second-largest closure day. Most pharmacy counters are closed; some 24-hour drugstores keep front-store hours but the pharmacy itself is dark.
